Electrical Program

PJC's Electrical Vocational Certificate Program is designed to help produce the qualified electricians needed along the storm-ravaged Gulf Coast. The program courses follow curriculum developed by Florida Community College of Jacksonville’s Florida Construction Institute and standards set by the National Center for Construction Education and Research. PJC's Electrical program is very well-rounded with significant on-the-job training.

Courses cover:

  • Residential and commercial electrical systems
  • The National Electrical Code
  • Blueprints
  • Proper selection and use of power/hand tools
  • Wiring techniques
  • Electrical maintenance procedures.
  • Hands-on with both lab and real construction projects

The service-learning component stresses community involvement such as helping Habitat for Humanity meet its goal to build approximately 50 homes during the next year. A Jobs for Florida’s Future grant is funding the program’s launch. Scholarships are available.
